Greetings in the name and birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ!
First, let me wish you all a wonderful Advent and Christmas holiday.  May God bring the spiritual joy to you and your families during this particular time of year.
I realize how truly difficult the times we live in are.  We continue to be in armed conflicts across the globe.  We continue to live with a double-digit unemployment rate, and many of our family and friends still need jobs.  Our economy is still struggling to get back to our former robust position, as the global economy continues to sputter.  We have witnessed the outburst of a grassroots protest movement against the economic powers that be, and a prophetic challenge against a multi-national hegemony.
Our churches are not insulated from such downturns and massive changes in our society and world.  Many of you have had to provide exemplary leadership as the church struggles with finances, attendance, and vitality.   You have seen the church through some difficult times.  I want to thank you for your commitments and loyalty.  I want to thank you for your hard work in enabling your church to remain strong during these turbulent times.  I want to thank you for your faith in Jesus Christ!
But during this Advent and Christmas season let us remember what we have been promised in the birth of the Prince of Peace.  We have been promised a new world!  We have been promised a spiritual realm, where crying or mourning or pain will be no more.  Even death will be conquered, and life will reign supreme.
We know that this promise is manifest in the One we worship as Jesus Christ.  It is for this reason that during this Christmas season we can truly rejoice!  God is made incarnate through our Savior and Lord!
So, may the blessings of this Good News dominate our spirits this Christmas, 2011.  May that Holy Spirit bleed over to the New Year, 2012, and may we usher in a new beginning for all in our world.  May YOU be blessed with this Spirit also!

Be the Hope, Bishop Grant

With God’s help, we commit ourselves to caring for our church family, reaching out and thriving.
