Believers, Living the Challenges of our Faith.”
Text Box: The Gospel spreads from person to person, heart to heart. Come and see.
Text Box: “Philip found Nathanael and said to him, “ we have found Him of whom Moses in the Law and also the Prophets wrote, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.” And Nathanael said to him, “Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” Philip said to him, “Come and see”. John 1:45-46
I want to start this month’s article by celebrating an event that happened during worship. A new person was sitting by herself, waiting for service to start. A member of our church family saw her sitting there all alone and decided to invite her to sit with them. He went over and introduced himself and she took him up on the invitation! She had someone to guide her through the service and a friend to worship with. Come and see!
That same service, the usher greeted a new person, and instead of just giving her a bulletin, she directed her to sit close to a member so that she could get to know someone. The member began to talk with her and share, and a friend was made. Come and see!
Again that same service another new person was there because they had been invited by their friends to come to worship God with them. Come and see!
The Gospel has always been passed person to person, heart to heart. In the Gospel of John cited above, we see that Nathanael came to see Jesus because he was told about Jesus by his friend Philip. One thing that I find very interesting is that Nathanael puts Philip off at first. But Philip presses on and says, “Come and see!”
The unbought grace of God is not meant for us alone. It is meant to be shared with abandon, to invite others to encounter the living God. As we worship together at Trinity, I pray that the Lord will encourage us, as He is already doing, to be bold in our faith and to invite others to meet the Lord for themselves. To be given the tools of spiritual growth through worship, the sacraments and Bible study.
I am incredibly grateful to be a part of Trinity UMC and I would encourage you to be bold in your faith and to reach out to the people that God has put in your path, that those who are hungry for God might find a community of souls in which they can discover Him.

Come and see!

With God’s help, we commit ourselves to caring for our church family, reaching out and thriving.
